In 2009 PetroKazakhstan carries on its traditional projects in Almaty and Astana to support the Kenes Disabled Children Rehabilitation and Social Adaptation Center, the Great Patriotic War Veterans Council of Almaly District, South Kazakhstan Veterans-Geologists Council, Red Crescent Society, A.B. Seleznev Almaty Choreographic School, as well as other projects.

One of the major areas of the Company’s charity and sponsorship activities are to help those organizations which do their best to save the lives of children in Kazakhstan, among which are orphaned children and families without means to provide required medical treatment for their children.

In Astana we cooperate with the Astana Disabled Children Society public association. Through participation in the campaign organized by “The Doers of the Good” fund the Company made it possible for four children to receive the required medical treatment and one surgery (see the attachment).

In Almaty we take an active part in the activities of the Voluntary Relief Society public fund by ensuring its continuous and smooth operation. As is known, this public fund is engaged in organizing medical treatment abroad for children whose diseases cannot be cured in Kazakhstan. The employees of the fund carry out a full scope of activities related to the search of a suitable clinic for a specific child, means for financing of the travel, accommodation, treatment, rehabilitation period and accompaniment of a child by an adult. Everyone has already heard about the public fund’s Save Children’s Lives campaign in which PetroKazakhstan was also involved, giving a chance to children to have a healthy future and giving joy to their parents.

With the assistance of PetroKazakhstan the Umit Hearing-Impaired Persons Support Center opened a Health Salon providing jobs for invalids. Having taken specialized courses these invalids acquired necessary hairdressing, manicure-pedicure, massage and cosmetology skills. Having a chance for a regular job and earnings means a confidence in future.

Our war and labor veterans were not forgotten as well.

On the occasion of the 64th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War the Company provided its beneficent help to the Almaly Veterans Council. There are not many veterans left today and it is our desire to pay tribute to their heroic deeds, treat them with deference and support them both morally and financially.

It has become an annual tradition for our company to take part in a ceremonial event dedicated to the Geologists Day. Our veterans-geologists in South Kazakhstan had a chance to meet and communicate with their colleagues, and call to memory all those who have gone.

Surprisingly, being young in their hearts our veterans called to memory those harsh days of geologists, heat and cold of steppes … all that gave start to “neftyanka” (oil business).
