Sairam Orphanage No.4 was founded in 1957 for orphans and children without parents’ support. In spite of these circumstances many alumni of the orphanage managed to achieve a lot in their life. Among them are the ex-secretary of the Shymkent Oblast Party Committee – I.Tleubergenov, an honored artist of the Republic of Uzbekistan – F.Akhmadaliyev, a member of the bar – M.Bektasov, a candidate of medical science – A.Nazirkhanov, a famous surgeon – A.Ergeshev, A-students of education – Ye.Zhukova and T.Abdullayeva and many others.

The company started to take care of the Sairam Orphanage immediately after it had purchased the refinery and had appeared in South Kazakhstan Oblast in 2000. It has been already 9 years since the company is fathering the orphanage by allocating funds for purchasing of clothes, blankets, toys, computers and many other things. In 2004 the company financed the construction of a gym and the equipping of that gym with various sport equipment. In 2006, on the eve of the Children’s Protection Day, the company granted a playground to the orphanage, in 2008 - a bus for 25 seats, and in 2009 it provided support for purchasing of necessary furniture for the orphanage.

Currently the Sairam Orphanage educates and brings up more than 160 children. The coteries that have been established for children and are functioning on a voluntary basis include arts, dancing, chorus, sewing, woodwork and locksmith's trade, which are developing children and helping them obtain practical skills that will be useful to them in their future independent life. All conditions for living and all-round development of the children were created again with the company’s participation and include arrangement of computer class rooms and a library with 14,200 books. On the orphanage site there is an oil pressing and a macaroni shops, a bakery, a shop for tailoring of leather articles, a hairdresser’s saloon, a bath and laundry complex and a household plot that includes 24 ha of irrigated lands and a farm.

For about 15 years PetroKazakhstan has been providing its sponsorship to humanitarian and aesthetic gymnasium No.65 named after Altynsarin. The assistance includes carrying out of repairs and purchasing of necessary training materials. Thus, in 2009 a support of 1 million tenge was provided to repair the school hall. Annually many graduates of this school become winners of the Altyn Belgi Award and many of them study on a state grant’s basis at prestigious universities inside and outside the country. The gymnasium won a grand prix in such nominations as The School of the Year and The Nest of Knowledge in the competition arranged by the RK Ministry of Education. The school was awarded with diplomas and merit certificates of the RK Ministry of Education.

Traditionally PKOP has been also providing its support for the preprimary school Inzhu-Marzhan. The company finances repairs and contributes to the improvement of the educational process at the school. The preprimary school is one of the best children institutions in the Republic of Kazakhstan and was deservedly awarded with rewards of the Ministry of Education and the Bobek Fund for introduction of new methods into the educational process.

In 2009 with PKOP’s support the winner of the republican competition in scientific projects – a pupil of the 10th form of gymnasium No.8, Arman Amangazin – took part in the international scientific competition in the Ecology nomination in Istanbul (Turkey) where he won the silver medal.
