PetroKazakhstan played a key role in creating Demeu corporate fund established jointly with the Akimat of Kyzylorda Oblast. Demeu is a non-profit organization aimed at financing socially important projects from combined funds allocated by various oil-gas companies operating in the region. For the last three years PetroKazakhstan’s contribution to Demeu made up 11,5 million US dollars. These funds were used in implementation of healthcare, educational, cultural and sports projects.
Thanks to a great degree to the funds allocated by Demeu each year the oblast’s socially important facilities such as Shapagat center for handicapped children, Baldauren kindergarten, the Child Care Center, School №2, and Arai-Sunrise children’s campus are able to maintain their activities. The fund actively sponsors the education of Kyzylorda medical and agricultural college graduates in higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan, allocates funds for various projects important for the development of the region’s infrastructure and maintenance of living standards in whole.
Since 2000 Kyzylorda oblast, with the assistance of PetroKazakhstan, has been operating the “Youth Achievements” Regional Center public fund. The main purpose of this fund is to familiarize students with the foundations of economics, develop their entrepreneurship skills. The fund’s financial support helped 37 thousand students learn the principles of market relations. Besides, the Center provided trainings and awarded certificates to 210 teachers in the oblast. The Youth Achievements center carries out trainings on economics in Arai-Sunrise summer camp which has been maintained by our company for ten years now. The Youth Achievements program has also been put into service by a number of secondary schools in the oblast.
