The Marketing and Transportation unit is the link between the production unit of PetroKazakhstan Kumkol Resources and the refining unit of PetroKazakhstan Oil Products.
The unit’s main activities include organizing and coordinating Kumkol oil supplies for refining and export, as well as coordinating oil distribution routes and the production of oil products between PKOP / PKKR and MT, liaising with the state authorities to define oil and oil product export quotas. The Marketing and Transportation unit is also involved in organizing and coordinating oil product sales on the domestic and export markets, as well as providing pipeline and railway shipment services.
Marketing and Transportation consists of the following departments:
Crude oil marketing – the sale of crude oil for export.
Oil product marketing – the export of PKKR oil products and also the sale of oil products on the domestic market. Domestic sales are made through Trade House PetroKazakhstan LLP – wholesale factory sales under Ex-works Tekesu* conditions and wholesale sales through Call Centers in four regions: Almaty, Astana, Shymkent and Taraz.
The logistics and supplies department: plans, organizes and coordinates the transportation of oil and oil products from all Company filling terminals for export and the Kazakhstan domestic market; effectively operates the terminals’ railway infrastructure; manages own and leased rolling stock; transports oil and oil products to other companies, refines oil at the Shymkent Oil Refinery; resolves customs and state regulation issues related to the export and import of oil and oil products; manages KAM oil pipelines and the Zhosaly oil terminal.
Market planning and analysis – coordinates production, plans oil product sales, and also maintains market reports and research for the PetroKazakhstan group of companies.
* Еx-works Tekesu –Ex-works sales are sales on a factory trestle, i.e. Free Carrier (“FCA”) sales when ownership rights to a product pass to the purchaser at the Tekesu loading trestle.
