From the beginning of its social activities, the Company’s priority areas were those that promoted the development of culture and sports in the region.

For instance, in 1997 the Company’s management, jointly with the Administration of Tourism and Sports, decided to organize tournaments on basketball and soccer for schoolchildren in the oblast for the cups and prizes of PetroKazakhstan. It is a pleasure to see that during the 12 years the tournaments won such popularity that it extended beyond the borders of Kyzylorda oblast. For the past years the children from Turkestan and Russia have been having a good chance of winning. Also, in 1997, the first tournament in one of the ancient national games called Togyz Kumalak, and the first Olympics for handicapped children were conducted. Nowadays, 60 – 80 children participate in this Olympics.

Since 1997 the Company is a general sponsor of Kaisar soccer club, and since 2006 PetroKazakhstan has been financing the club through Demeu Fund.

For the past several years PetroKazakhstan has been sponsoring the active development of heavy athletics in Kyzylorda oblast. In particular, the Company provided direct assistance to preparation of the heavy athletics champion in the 2008 Olympics in China Mr. Ilja Iljin.
