PetroKazakhstan takes an active part in developing the social sphere of South Kazakhstan Oblast that meets the overall company policy which stipulates provision of social support in those regions of Kazakhstan where the company carries out its operations. Over the past three years more than 7 million USD have been invested in social projects in SKO.

Annually the SKO Akimat and the management of PetroKazakhstan Oil Products sign a Memorandum for social support of the region. In 2009 within the framework thereof the company is allocating 1 million USD.

Besides projects that are being carried out jointly with the Oblast Akimat, PetroKazakhstan carries out some of its own initiatives in the social sphere. Among them is the beneficent aid provided for children from poor families and orphans, pensioners and disabled persons, as well as the talented youth. The company is an active sponsor in the field of culture and sports and provides its support for health care institutions.

In 2009 PKOP continues providing its support for some organizations that it typically sponsors, including Orphanage No.4, the Rehabilitation Center for HIV Infected Children, rural children pre-school institutions, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, Gymnasium No.65 and the Ballet School which is the only school of this kind in the region. The company also traditionally provides social support for the neediest layers of the local population, including disabled persons, veterans and talented young people.
