On September 4, 2026, PetroKazakhstan and the Akimat of Kyzylorda Region held a formal event in Kyzylorda to mark the 40th anniversary of industrial development of the Kumkol oil field.

Kumkol is a historic field, and its development made a major contribution to the growth of the oil and gas industry in Kyzylorda Region and Kazakhstan as a whole. For many specialists, Kumkol was where it all began: this is where the industry’s production infrastructure took shape and the foundations of its professional community were laid.

The 40th anniversary of Kumkol is, above all, a story of people. That is why special attention was given to honoring the veterans who stood at the origins of the field’s development, built its production infrastructure, and kept the company running for decades. Tribute was also paid to the employees who continue their work for the benefit of the industry.

During the event, veterans and industry specialists were presented with state and industry awards for their significant contribution to the development of the oil and gas sector and their outstanding production performance.

The event was held at Oner Ortalygy (Arts Center) and was attended by the Akim of Kyzylorda Region, M.N. Yergeshbayev; shareholders represented by the Chairman of the Management Board of KazMunayGas National Company JSC, A.G. Khassenov, and the General Director of CNPC Kazakhstan, Yang Mingyu; the President of PKKR, Chen DaYou; veterans of the industry; employees of PKKR; representatives of regional oil companies; social project partners; and representatives of the local media.

The formal part of the event was followed by a concert.
